Social media influencer and activist, VeryDarkMan, has publicly disclosed that renowned music producer, Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, is the mysterious donor behind the ₦100 million contribution to his newly established Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO).
The NGO, aimed at supporting community development and enhancing public schools in Nigeria, had raised significant funds within days of its launch.
VeryDarkMan, whose real name is Martins Vincent Otse earlier sparked concern when he posted a video on his Instagram account expressing shock over a substantial deposit into the NGO's account. In the video, he tagged Zenith Bank, requesting an investigation into the sudden influx of funds, fearing a potential setup.
He said in the post, “@zenithbankplc, please investigate my NGO account. I don’t know what is going on, hope I’m not being set up… I AM NOT INTO MONEY LAUNDERING, I DO NOT DO FRAUD (FOR THE RECORD). Nigerians, bear me witness, I don’t know what’s up with the account.”
His concern stemmed from the unexpected appearance of ₦100 million in the NGO's account, which had initially held ₦70 million.
This led VeryDarkMan to speculate that the deposit might be a glitch or an attempt to implicate him in financial misconduct. He admitted to being overwhelmed by the sudden and large contribution, as previous donations had been smaller amounts ranging from ₦50 to ₦500.
In a follow-up video posted on Thursday, VeryDarkMan revealed that Don Jazzy had personally reached out to inform him that he was the benefactor behind the donation.
The message from Don Jazzy read, “Morning bro. Just saw your post. Na me send ₦100m to support. I believe in what you are doing and trust you to be as transparent as you have always been. We really need that in our country. I wish you all the best with the project and more blessings to you. It’s not easy.”
Following this revelation, Don Jazzy has become a trending topic on the social media platform X, with many Nigerians lauding his generosity and expressing admiration for his support of philanthropic causes.
As of Thursday, VeryDarkMan confirmed that the NGO had already amassed ₦179 million, just five days after its launch, with the support of prominent figures like Don Jazzy further propelling its cause.
